Tm:YAP crystals are suitable for commercial laser diode (LD) pumping, possessing numerous advantages such as direct output of linearly polarized laser, high conversion efficiency, high thermal conductivity, good mechanical and chemical stability. It is an important laser crystal in the 2-micron wavelength band. However, Tm:YAP crystals belong to the orthorhombic system and are biaxial crystals with significantly anisotropic thermal expansion coefficients. Traditional thermal diffusion bonding technology produces Tm:YAP composite crystals with low bonding strength. The undoped YAP crystal and Tm:YAP crystal at the end face, due to crystallographic orientation differences, cause additional polarization loss.
